its been about 5 months since the new aamco tranny, and i have encountered this problem now 4-5 times over the last week; while in slow traffic on higway i would apply steady pressure the gas to catch up with the car in front of me, the the car would start to buck, i immediatley took foot off gas and it would stop, it only happens when foot is on gas, when moving in rolling in slow traffic, when problem reaccured , i would keep steady pressure on gas to see what would happen, engine would 'bounce'with revs going from almost zero up to 3500 rpm up down up down and you can tell the engine is going crazy slamming like an sob, it happened once about two months ago, and 4-5 times this week, i now drive the car daily to work 30 miles each way,

any ideas, could this be a tranny related problem, my atx is still under warrany.

i dont want to take to mechanic and be told its not the tranny and have this rubber bang me over the head for something else. i have my another general mechanic that i trust who can fix it. no cel so no code to pull

any help would be nice
thanks

If it typically happens when you're low on fuel, it may be the fuel pump.

When was the last time you replaced the air & fuel filters?

Have you tried cleaning the MAF?

With those wild RPM changes, I doubt its plugs/wires as has been the case with many less severe bucking/missing issues.

That should give you a place to start looking before heading for the tranny shop.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I remember being told aamco trannys suck.... maybe they screwed up your engine
Edit: I was also told, there can be a code in there that wont trigger your CEL

within the last month i had recently cleaned my k&n filter and cleaned the throttle body. i noticed that when i cleaned the tb there was a little pooling of cleaner under the plate, i assume that what ever accumulation of cleaner there was would be burnt off/dried out? the problem had accured once before before i did any of that maintainance.

perhaps there was some over oiling of the filter, butlike i said it happened once before.

thanks

Are you getting a cell light? If so what are the codes? Converter clutch slippage would do that. When they rebuilt your trans did they replace the torque converter?

Did they install the modified oil pump plate and gasket to prevent oil pump failure?

the answer is, when you recently cleaned you throttle body, perhaps some carbon had come loose and now is in the system and causing problems, the way to correct it is to remove plenum and have direct access to the tb, while car is running, manually open throttle body slowly as not to stall and spray about a half can of tb cleaner into there, start with that.

I noticed U mentioned over-oiling. Of Ur K&N? then clean Ur MAF -That Cleaner fluid and/or filter oil are murder on the MAF.
