I have a 98.5 Contour SVT with a bad tranny. I took the car to this no name place to have the tranny fixed and he actually did more harm at the cost of $1,000. Then I had the clutched replaced at AAMCO for $700 which I found out was a USED clutch from a Contour in a junkyard. Not only that but when they took the subframe out (which they claim they never did) the put it back in incorectly which completely screwed up my steering and over time has deteriated my front end. AAMCO = PROBLEMS! I seem to have really bad luck, no? Well actually it is what I get for taking my pride and joy to second hand shops. I took it to Ford and they said the entire tranny and clutch need to be replaced at a cost of $3500. Is this a fair figure? This car is killing me with these costs... Anything I should know before I go into Ford again blind, knowing nothing of my tranny?

YEah..... I dont know if terry haines is still in the busnieses but if he is it's worth u getting ahold of him!! For that kinda money u could have a Bull dogged tranny, including quife, and a high performance clutch...

did they charge you for a new clutch?
If you can prove they damaged your car take it back and talk to Corporate.

They charged me $700. I have talked to corp. but they can not do anything for me. I talked to Ford and they will not install anything that they do not order themselves.
