I've been complaining like everyone else about how gas prices have been going up and up since...since I can remember. The current prices at a station near work are $1.679, $1.779, $1.879 for 87, 89, and 93 octane respectively. Their diesel is at $1.839. We don't know how good we've got it, I guess. I've been poking around our cousin's web sights lately, specifically www.fordmondeo.org and www.mondeosport.com. They tell me that to fill a Mondeo tank with 11 imperial gallons will run about 40 British Pounds. A quick check with the currency exchange would show this to be about $73.00 It's no wonder big, thirsty cars don't sell well "across the pond". Check out the Mondeo sights, those guys over there are just as enthusiastic about their cars as we are.

When I was in Okinawa gas off base was about $1 a litre...almost $4 a gallon! You could get some super high octane stuff like 96 or 98 I think that was almost $2 a litre. I filled up the tank on my Nissan Bluebird (Maxima in the states) one time before I went racing and it cost me almost $100!

Gas prices need to be raised!
My theory is if the Govt. controlled gasoline prices (not heating oil) at say $2.00 $2.10 and $2.20 a gallon the Govt could pocket the excess using it for budgetary problems. Stabilizing the fuel price, decreasing emissions. If gas cost goes over $2 then the Govt eats the cost.
I'm used to $2.00/G gas as I live in Cali. I dont see this hurting anyone, the few dollars extra a tank will cost is easily affordable!
I know its not a well thought out system and I'm sure theres lots of pitfalls but I'm in favor of higher costs.

Gas prices at every single station in my town jumped 20 cents yesterday. Up to $1.73 for 87. Today they all went down 5 cents. Crazy price fixing going on here.

4.5 litres to the gallon so about $3 US for a gallon. I really wish the US would just switch to metrics and so we could all be on the same system.

To be precise 1 US gallon = 3.78 liters, so $.68 x 3.78 = $2.57 CDN. At today's exchange rate per www.xe.com that's $1.92 US

I've had co-workers who had to spend 5 months in San Diego on a job tell me their 3 bedroom, basic apartment was $2700/ month. A $40K-50K job here in Maine would be $80K-100K in CA. It's all relative, I suppose.
