Hi Everyone,

My question is how long (miles or driving cycles) should it take after reseting the MIL for the EVAP (EV) system to test? I ran my scan tool on the tour tonight, and everything showed as being "ready" except the EV System.

I just replaced an O2 sensor over the weekend and needed to reset the MIL. Since then I have driven about 350 miles or so and completed about 8 complete cool down/warm up drives. Nice to know that my 02 replacement got rid of the MIL, but wondering why the EV system is the only not showing as ready. Is there any way to force the PCM to test the EV system.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Roger

I just PM'd you with an excerpt out of the Ford 98 CD Rom manual.
This Evap monitor is hard to figure out, but the CD-rom manual everything I try to do with it has not been easy.
You need Ford training classes, Ford's Star tester and dealership with paper manuals to fill in the blanks.
I've been looking for some sort of a reference, manual/training document for the last several years, however I never bought anything yet.$$$$$$$
I have Alex Peppel's software (www.obd-II.com) (OBD-II) on an old laptop and just the other day updated to the lastest revsion. It has several new features and the one I'd like to try is actual gas mileage test? I think? nothing in the help files? I just love this new technolgy--Proprietary every turn you make.
If I was younger and was going to do this for a living, I'd would spend more time digging.
Not sure if the Mitchell's would help more as far a training/teaching info. It's the bible out there, if you talk to any private repair techs. It should be for what it costs!

EVAP Purge Flow System Monitor
What I sent you is on Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Running Loss System Monitor
