My 99 SVT spun a bearing and threw a rod at 48k miles for no particular reason. Lucky for me I had the extended warranty, so the dealer put in a remanuf. long block.

My question is: It seems like the alignment is messed up now, will replacing an engine do that? Should the dealer have performed an alignment, or is it just expected that I do it? If I hadn't just done the alignment a few months ago, I probably wouldn't mind paying for one.

They probably dropped the whole from sub frame to do the engine. The jig and jack to lower it are expensive but it's much easier to do it. If they didn't bolt the frame up in the same place, it could be off. I'd ask them to fix it!

Struts and suspension components have to be unhooked for the engine to be swapped. I'd ask them to check the alignment and then tell them to fix it if it's out.
