my atx has a hairline crack in it, because the housing sits on the sub-frame,(the housing with the oil-pump), it had to be from a bump or something. it leeks about a quart every 2 weeks. is it supposed to be on the sub-frame, or is something wrong? also what do you suggest to patch the crack?

Your trans to drive side motor mount is shot. Mine was sitting on the frame also was was rubbing. Replaced the mount and it now sits about 1.5 inches above the frame. Auto zone has a good price on this mount. Mine wasn't leaking or anything, I just read a message on this forum about it and remembered mine sitting on the frame!!!! Mount is not that hard to change.

where to look to see if ATX v6 tranny is sitting on the sub frame.

Should I listen for a different sound?

you should look in the driverside wheel well, you will see your tranny and the sub-frame. you tranny should not be sitting on the subframe. it should look suspended in air. and no, there isn't any sound that i know of.

The part of the ATX that he is talking about is where the pump plate is located.
