I have trouble starting my 98 svt whenever the outside temp's change by 20 degrees or so--either up or down. The engine turns over, but generally won't fire on the initial crank. If the engine does start on the first try, it idles rough. Turn the engine off...re-fire - it runs as the designers planned. The battery has been replaced. No change. Computer issue here?

I think it could be the IAC sticking.

Ok, great. Will take a look at it. But what is an IAC, and how can I fix it?

I have been having similar problems in cold weather.
I changed the PCV and some of its associated vacuum tubes, and that seemed to have improved the problem but did not fix it.
I am starting to suspect the IAC, but would like to know if there are any tests that I could perform on the IAC before taking it off.

Buried inside this thread is a lot of information on the IAC, and IAC cleaning including a photo, but would like
to hear if anyone has a test for the IAC. IAC Thread

So finally got around to test the IAC:
- the resistance across the two pins were 10.3 ohm - withinn spec
- could not get a readout pin to housing, since the housing was not conductive.

I took it off and cleaned it with crab cleaner, put it back the idling improved alot but was still not normal - at least it would not stall.
Forked out the money for a new one, and just put it in - car runs like a charm! - for now....

Thanks for all your help.
