After being repaired from a hit and run in front of my house, my car was wicked out of alignment, (someone side swiped it and pushed it into the curb) I also noticed that there was a bit of sway and drift to the steering. I dropped it off this morning, and the mech. calls me back tells me, "I looked at the control arms, there is some give there, but to fix it is gunna be $672, needless to say i told him to wait on that, but i was thinking i would just need the bushings in my control arms, the mech was sayin i need new control arms completely. HELP!?!?!?!

I don't think you can find the bushings by themselves. Take a look at the descriptions in the BAT catalogue. www.batinc.net

Well..if you had the stock bushings out...you could possibly get some poly bushes (poly = harsher ride) and match them up or cut some down to size. And you can get the arms a lot cheaper from Bill Jenkins. That could save you some cash as well. But while replacing them is not that hard, it is time consuming, which is probably where a lot of the $$ the dealer is telling you is coming from. I could see where you might have bent one...but not both.

what dealer was that that gave you that quote?
128 Ford quoted me about $500 to replace them.

The bushings are a) bonded to the a-arms, and b) not cylindrical. (So, no, not replaceable.)

A-arms from BAT are $175 each for horizontal (early) bush types, and about $114 and $132 from Bill Jenkins. Later, vertical-bush types are considerably less. I'd think you'd be in under $200 for parts, so $500 for labor? Seems a bit steep...

i just replaced my rear passenger side control arm... i went to a boneyard and got it for $16 so you might want to look at that option.
