Here is the post I placed on another site that recommended coming here for answers.

To answer your 1st question, there aren't any mods. Secondly, it "appears" to be coming from the engine compartment. The Idle Motor assembly was replaced by the Ford dealership (covered under warranty) and I'm not sure exactly what it does, it too is located somewhere in the engine compartment.
It is very hard to describe the sound. It really sounds like a growling noise that changes pitch and intensity at different rpm's and vehicle speed combinations. The sound will almost dissapear as well when the rpm's and speed change. That is why I stated it's like a harmonic frequency issue but I'm unsure of it's origin.
Thanks
yeah, sounds like moosing. I think maybe Ford replaced your "IAC" meaning "idle air control" valve. There is a TSB on the moosing, maybe you should look into that or as Steeda said, the TH fix usually cures it. Check contour.org also as Steeda has mentioned.

Any ideas from SVT or other Contour owners?
Thanks,
Joe in Grand Rapids,MI
