Hey CEG.....
Here's what I have -
- 98 SVT E0 -
KKM
Optimized TB
- Sho Shop Offroad Y-pipe into Magnaflow 4" round resonator from there it goes back onto stock pipe until the rear mufflers which have been cut off.

I desperately need suggestions on what will sound descent on my ride. Right now, my car is VERY loud with tons of drone. It doesn't sound good outside the car either - sorta raspy -
I need to kill the rasp and the a little of the noise..... Should I put small straight through mufflers on the back with large "echo" tips? Should I delete the factory "Y" near the rear of the car? - I have read that some blame this aspect of the exhaust for rasp.

Regardless, I am looking for suggestions for my particular case - Anyone have a similar setup?

Thanks for all your help !

What factory Y? I thought you said you had an off-road sho-shop...I say invest in a cat back, or if you don't have the money, save up and invest in a catback. Trubendz(search) is cheap and sounds great. I have that system as well as many others. Or, if money isn't an issue, you can get another system for more...Either way, cat back is better than trying to piece together a "custom" system IMO...

You picked up the rasp when you dropped the main cat. (cats slow exhaust velocity tremendously!)

The fact you are running no mufflers and only one resonator also plays a part in not killing the rasp and is 100% of the reason for the obnoxiously loud volume and terrible ricer drone. (though some people think that's "mean" sounding )

The rear Y has nothing to do with the drone or rasp. It's actually quite well designed. I was surprised at how well it was made (it's a clamshell design) when I cut it apart.

I'd recommend a pair of small magnaflows in the rear location to help with "ricer" noise control. They'll give you a deep tone, but since you still have pre-cats they won't be too boomy.
