you shouldn't have to oil it or clean it from the factory... 10,000 miles is nothing on a K&N.

I've had both cars in for warranty work with K&N's in them, no comments from the dealer. It is BS

Also to note.. I was looking at a "Blue Oval Certified" Mustang from a Ford dealer with a K&N filter in it.

Little problems starting, she explained it to me as skipping a beat then starting up... Little puff of black smoke on start up. They said it was from the K&N changing the flow through the mass airflow censor.

LOL!
Does the term "engine management" mean anything to these yokels?

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

Dealers love to double bill. Charge you for warranty service & then get paid by Ford too. What a country!!
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Indeed they do. They tried to get me to pay $1100 for my cats @ 50K. Once I pointed out on the Ford site it says they will replace up to 7yr/70K for CA (thanks to CEG!!) they changed their tune. They managed to lose the paper work for the job too, completly coincidental I assure you. Fortunately I had them fax the bogus estimate to me and submitted a copy to the CA department of consumer affairs. Nothing will happen I suppose, but it is on record, somewhere. While I am ranting, the other 3 Ford dealers I have been to in the greater LA area have been just as shady. They do not inspire confidence, which is a shame. Given the new lineup of Ford products coming out, they are very attractive, but knowing what my dealer experience will be like takes them off the list. Tell them they are full of it and get your $ back.
