Today I called Ford's 1800 number, and I just wanted to find out if any recalls have been done, because my cooling fan wont go on by itself. Well the person I talked to said that is related to the wiring harness, and my car had that done, but thinks that the replacement wiring harness is defective, and that I should bring it in... I need a 2nd opinion.... I think they just want to inspect my car, and make me pay for the inspection....

If it is a possible issue with a recall issue. i don't think they will charge you. Call the dealership you are going to take the car too and see what they say.

Yeah I worked at a Ford Dealership this summer and they are nuts. $9 for a stock foglight bulb. They were tryin to sell me lug nuts for $1.50 or something each! I went a half mile down the road and bought 16 for about $2.

My father is a Ford retiree and my family has been buying Fords for quite some time now. I have owned/own several myself.
However, I am quite displeased with the quality of service all of the dealer clowns have given me over the years. On most occasions they have either examined my car for problems and found nothing wrong or said they have changed a particular part in a repair job and have not.
Case in point:
The splash shield inside the passenger side wheel-well was supposed to have been changed by the dealer to an improved version that does a better job of keeping rainwater off the drive belts. I took my Contour in for that specific reason since the steering would somtimes lock after hitting a puddle. I even got the repair receipt that said it was replaced under a TSB campaign.
Well, guess what? It wasn't! I took it back to the particular dealer many months later since the problem began to recur again and they said SORRY chump, we are not responsible for that anymore!
I have experienced this type of "service" many times before.
Makes me wanna go and buy another product.

If I'm correct the recall is to intall a fuse between the fan and the wire so you can disconnect that fuse see the fan would come on or not.

Well fan goes on when I turn the A/C on, and fan also goes on when I unplug the ECT (I think... too many acronyms...) and so I did replace that, but still doesnt work.
