OP 95gl CEG\'er 9 Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 124 Michigan	Is our Zetec an interference or a non interference engine? I read taht if it is a non interference engine that we dont need head work just a new timing belt and tensioner... is this true? has anyone here ever done one of these and is it hard to do? 95 gl 18 in ADR Trama/Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 Aiwa HU and speakers Missin the contour Sold the BMW 328, lookin for an E36 M3 Daily: 1998 Blue GMC Sonoma, ZQ8 suspension cleared heads and tails Wheels coming soon. slowly modding

tiv_dup1 Veteran CEG\'er T Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 750 Nashville, TN	I suggest going to the Zetec Maintenance forum and do a search, you'll find ten zillion posts about this. To answer your question, most probably you only have to replace the belt/tensioner, and it is doable at home. Tiv

Neither did the 3 other dealers I asked. wip_dup1 New CEG\'er W Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 24 ohio	Good news. It's a NON-interference engine. I found out through the dealer and gates.com. Gates.com list all timing belt applications and specifies interference or not, along with the correct belt. You'd be surprised to see how many of the forgien models are interference.
