I once had a Manassas Park cop follow me (late at night). I was right near my house, so I stopped at the stop sign right outside my house, hit the garage door opener (while the cop was probably wondering why I'm stopped at the stop sign for an extra few seconds--he couldn't see my garage door opening from where he is).
I started moving again, pull RIGHT into my garage, and hit the button to close it.
As the door was about 1 foot from closing, I saw the cop car go by. It's not the fastest garage door around, so I know the cop stopped and watched me pull into my garage.
I'm pretty sure he was following me since there are at least 2-3 places where he could have turned off between where he started following me and my house.
I have no idea why he was following me, I only know that he was.

Just a side note... Alot of times cops will pull you over for something little like not using a turn signal in hopes of getting some other bust. Like, just the other night I pulled over a riced-out Integra for driving with his fog lights on. A simple liscense and insurance and warrant check and this guy would have been on his way. However, his eyes were bloodshot and the car reaked of pot. Ended up the driver was drunk, underage, and had cocaine on him. The passanger was drunk, underage, and had a huge joint on him. Maybe the cop was being less than courtious, but any complaint you make whether its legit or not stays on their employment record. Dont file a complaint, if it means so much to you go and find her and tell her you didnt like the way she handled it; odds are she will apologize. If she doesnt, then you might want to look into filing a complaint if she was really rude to you. -Nick

FAR AWAY! What an hour, two during rush hour. I go that way once in awhile. And yes, a complaint does stay on their record whether it sticks or not. That's just why I would file.

File a complaint because she mumbled? Come on.
Unprofessional mumbling lmfao Does anyone realize that a lot of times cops pull people over for minor things like this only to find they have just stopped a drunk driver? Hell in a cops eyes lack of using a turn signal can be a sign of DUI. God forbid we should actually get a few jackass drunks off the road and save some lives at the expense of having to use our turn signals. I'll be the first one on the anti cop bandwagon when they do something wrong but jesus infuryum even admitted he got an attitude with the cop so wtf is the point of filing a complaint and causing that officer trouble that most likely isn't warranted? Just to say "yeah she gave me a ticket but I stuck it to her...sstupid pig"?

I don't think people have much of a problem with a cop finding other summons to write during a legitimate traffic stop. The problem that some of us do have though, is with a police cruiser tailing a driver for an extended period, sometimes even instigating a violation by tailgating to cause speeding.
I have refused to cooperate with an officer when I was stopped and not given a reason immediately. I also filed a formal complaint for the stop.
This case at the top of the thread is borderline though. While pulling out of a driveway requires a signal, the fact that there were no other cars on the road indicates a quota stop or fishing expedition. The insurance card ticket was totally legitimate though. It would be the cops ass if it turned out you were uninsured and then you got into an accident.

Most of the time cops are young football players that just graduated from high school. They have to be to serve warrants and arrest fighting drunken people. The police tailgated me with their bright lights on while crossing the mountain. It was freezing cold that night. I didn't know it was a cop so I speeded up and left him behind. When I got to the city limit I slowed down and he pulled up beside me and said over the speaker "slow it down a little". Most cops are not the best at judging situations. It is better to try to talk to the judge than to the police.

I'm glad I'm not in law enforcement. I worked as a Master at Arms in the Military. People make all kinds of weird comments when they are being searched for drugs.
