I switched my old 'tour to Mobil 1 at 90,000 miles. It had been using conventional prior to that. No leaks or problems from changing over.

None.

I switched at 50.

There used to be seal problems back in the early 70's, but those were quickly resolved.

Only other possibility is if you have a potential leak that is sealed with sludge. When the synth cleans off the sludge, your potential leak becomes real. First off, I don't believe your going in condition is one you really want to live with, and secondly, I don't think it's very likely with a 45k engine.

Before owning my CSVT I had (3) Buicks that I bought used, an 87 GN, 89 LeSabre T-type and a 93 Park Avenue Ultra. They all had 80K+ miles on them and I switched over to Mobil 1 w/o any problems During the winter monthes you might want to get 0w30 Mobil 1 to aid in start up, just to help things get warmed up on those cold winter mornings

I changed my 1991 BMW 535i over to Mobil-1 at 141,000 miles. Not a single problem or leak.

Just do it!
