Help Wanted! 1998 Mercury Mystique problems #846527 01/18/04 06:38 PM

OP kkdon Newbie K Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 4	I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS with a V6 engine. Recnetly i have been getting these problems: 1. check engine light is on. Happened before and I have changed the O2 sensors already. 2. a noise problem when the car is started, esp. during winters. It's like a howling sound from blowing a shell. I heard it can be a idle speed controller issue due to the airflow. Please help and PM me if you have a solutin. Thanks

It came from the factory with the intake tuning mod. Been 4-5 years since this issue had been disgusted, I may have missed something? I did the secondary cracking when Lance first talked about rebuilding his intake, Hmmmmm 2 + years ago. I turned adj. screw 1/2 to 3/4 and never had a reason to close them back up. coatsy Veteran CEG\'er C Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 669 Ontario Canada	I have a 99 and have the same problems, CEL came on 1 1/2 ago and had the moose sice I bought the car, although the moose left when the CEL came on (weird I know) Search the forum for Moose there are alot of cheap fixes.. I just live with it as once the car warms up it goes away.. Its a little embarassing when you go pick up a date though.. LOL. Also it is dangerous up here in Canada around moose hunting season.
