My check engine light keeps coming on after several minutes and the speedmoter works sometimes and other times it doesnt. When the speedometer doesnt work i've noticed the car shifts hard. Any help would be greatly appreciated

either vss sensor went bad which is located on the tranny or you speedo cable broke. I would check inside the engine bay. The is a white plaastic peice about 4 inches long coming out the firewall. Open that up and see the condtion of the cable.

if the check engine like is just cycling on and off it is most likely a O2 sensor. For the 95 there are instructions in the faq on how to get the code, do that and post them to find out what to do

the speedo is most likely linked to the VSS, there shouldn't be any reson for the sensor to fail, check that the connection is clean and that the cable isn't pulling on the sensor, also you can spray some silicon on it to help out, you will not have a speedo cable unless your car was built before feb 95, if it was then it is going to be the speedo cable

If your CEL has been coming on, you must read the codes to see what it is complaining about. Guessing about what might be the cause is pointless.

As for the speedo and the harsh shifting, it may be the VSS. Of course, the CEL may be due to a detected VSS error or other tranny related problem.

Read the codes, it only takes a paperclip on a 95.
