I am trying to replace my + battery cable in my 99 SVT. I have removed the air filter/intake hose to TB, removed battery and battery box.

Also I can see that the 2 cables running to the starter terminate on the solenoid where they are fed into a plastic shroud / block.

I unscrewed the nut that holds this shroud onto the solenoid. I then realized that there is another large cable going to the alternator, and also terminates in this plastic block. The fact that the alternator cable is routed opposite the battery cable makes it impossible for me to move the block to a better position to unsecure the battery cable.

Next, I figured out that I can open the block up to see where the cables feed into the block on the solenoid. Using a small mirror, I can see what appears to be (2) 90 degree terminals, one for the alternator cable, the other for the battery cable.

The following item is very unclear to me:

(1) How do I simply remove the 2 cables going from battery into this plastic block? They do not seem to be bolted to anything on the solenoid as the whole block moves freely when unbolted from the solenoid, leaving me to guess that these terminals are spade terminals?

My car is 100% down now so any help is appreciated...!

FWIW, I bought a Haynes manual hoping to get some good info on this proc. What a waste of time, its like the same R&R proc. for any 12+VDC automobile.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it wouldn't help me out...in order to remove the starter, I'd have to accomplish the item I am struggling with (getting + cable freed from solenoid)

I am kind of suprised that there isn't more info in the archives on this...I can't be the 1st person to deal with this.
