Hello all,

I am looking to take a vacation with the family this year and I am in need of some suggestions. It needs to be kid friendly, 3 1/2 yr and 6 mos.

I am currently thinking of Texas, Alabama, Florida(beaches) or Kentucky, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Minnesota. I want to hold off on the whole Disney experience until my boys get a little older.

I live in the St. Louis, Mo area and I am not opposed to driving or even flying t the destination. You can respond here or PM me.

Lets here what you come up with!

Thanks in advance.

Dan

If you have a lot of choices, skip Texas.

Unless you plan on attending the Superbowl.

Heh, there's lots of stuff to do in the Gatlinburg, TN area.. Might make for a nice vacation - http://www.attractions-gatlinburg.com/

Do you have to live in AZ to qualify?

Depends when you want to go? One of my personal favorite spots in the winter is the Florida Keys. Right now I wouldn't mind being there. It's a lot better than the -35 wind chill temps. we had last night. The summers are nice and pleasant (usually) in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado (Rocky Mtn. areas) if you like the "backcountry hiking/touring". If you have a bit more money, and don't mind traveling outside the country, there are some very nice places. I'm usually out of the country once a month or so, and I know some pretty good places if your into just relaxing on the beach or hiking/siteseeing.

If your looking for something out of the continental u.s. You could try aruba or the bahamas. They have places there that are very child friendly

If you are looking in the carribean you should check -

1. Beaches - Turks and Caicos - awesome family fun
2. Iberostar Bavarro Suites - Dominican Republic, Punta Cana - great family place

In the US maybe consider

1. Sandpiper - Florida

All of the above have available babysitting and kids camp.

When we go to them we utilize the babysitting at night so we can have some adult time AFTER the kids are already asleep. And we use the camp for maybe an hour a day so we can do somethings that simply cannot be done with the kids.

YES, I go on vacation with my kids to spend time with them, but 24/7 is difficult and makes a "vacation" less like being away somewhere and more like just taking time off of work and staying home and doing day trips.

Just some thoughts. Good Luck

btw - We will be at the Iberostar at the end of Feb!

Thats what I was going to say. Key West is very nice. The hotels in Key West are pricey but its a little better on some of the keys.
