i have already put wire mesh in the oval and would like to complete the look with adding it the the bottom grill and the rear grill. So far i took out the bottom mesh but not sure how i should tackle the job. My intensions were to cut out the plastic cross hatches and use the frame for the wire mesh. The plastic is pretty flexible once you get it out. And now that i got it out, im afraid if i cut the cross hatches the fame will not hold its shape leaving a messy install job.
So i was wondering, for those that have do this, do you have any suggestions for me? I thought meshing the bottom grill was going to be just as straight forward as doing the oval.

that is exactly how i do every mesh install. yes, it is very flimsy once you cut out the crosshatch, but that just makes it easier to reinstall. once it is back on the bumper and teh factory clips are put back on, it keeps its shape fine, and cant be seen from the outside

I bought elky mesh, and I installed it the same way. It holds up good and it does hold the shape once it is clamped in properly.

Ok one more question.... How far back should i cut the plastic mesh? I was thinking about leaving about a half of diamond near the edge, so i have something to securely attach the new mesh to. Is that too much to leave (be able to be seen it from the front)? And how did you attach the mesh to the border, i was thinking of threading the mesh to the border with wire?
Ok thats more than 1....oops!

completely cut the plastick hatch out. cut your metal mesh larger than the opening in the bumper. lay it over the plastic insert before you cut the hatch out. cut slots in the metal mesh where the plastic tabs on teh bumper would go through the plastic insert. you can then slide the mesh onto the bumper and then slide the plastic insert(minus hatch) on behind the metal mesh, secure with factory clips

Does anyone happen to know how to install the bottom mesh on the 98+ Mystiques?
