Exemptions:
Tests: Onboard Diagnostics and Gas Cap Check
Note: Brand-new vehicles and vehicles driven under 5000 miles annually may qualify for an exemption sticker. Ask your service provider for more details.
Effective: Jan., 2004
Disclaimer: Gasoline-powered motor vehicles with a model year of 1975 and newer with a GVWR of 9,000 pounds or less and registered in an I/M county or region are subject to an emission inspection. Actual test requirements based on make and model, drive system, vehicle weight, etc. The regulations in Title 67 Pa. Code, Chapter 177 shall determine the test type for any individual vehicle.

Basicly , if you drive under 5k a year , no testie  . I'm not sure quite yet , but the visual inspection might still apply  . I'm not 100% sure though . I'm only at about 2,000 miles since last May , so I'm gonna take full advantage of the exemption  !
I see you sold your SVT , where'd it go (local ?) ?? You were asking mad-cheap $$$ for it , I can't believe it didn't sell instantly . If only I had some extra $$ at the time .

Luca Im going to try and make it up there for the day if I can, but I'll probably ride up if I come.
Allen yes I finally sold it with 126,000 on the clock. It went to a kid outside DC.I put the factory stereo back in, and ended up selling it for $5000. I had like 45 emails about people wanting to buy the cf hood. Could have got a good amount for the hood if I would have know that before hand. Later and thanks again

That kid got a killer deal on a cool car , that's for sure .
While my wife's jetta was failing her emissions test this morning , I specifically asked the guy about the 5,000-mile exemption deal . According to him , you take the car in , verify that you've had it at least a year and have gone under 5 grand , they key in the info & file it as "exempt" . That's it , not even an official visual inspection .he said that PA's not trying to ban modified cars , they just don't want 'em used everyday , hence the 5-thou grace .
I went down to my garage & looked at my mileage ... The SVT's actually gone a hair under 1,800 miles since last May . What a waste !!
The wife's Jetta failed it's test because it needs a new gas cap , BTW . I'm picking one up at the dealer tomorrow (~ $7) . It will become my "Official Jetta Emissions Inspection gas cap" .

just remeber if you go to the right guy just about anything will pass within reason though hehehehe. the guy i went to didn't give a rip that i had no precats on my car all he said as long as the computer says your ok then your ok. he also said if your smart enough that you fooled the computer like that than good for you becuase you passed he just chuckled. I know for sure that i will be taking my contour to this guy for emissions from now on becuase he will let things ride like this.

Dam precats.... Do you know how to get that error back in the computer??? 79,500 miles....... But not that I would take my bicycle to a ford dealer..... It would most likly end up like a unicycle after there are done with it.
But for some reason I think I'm following in your foot steps Jason.
BUT THE MUSTANG IS EXEMPT!!!!

The only thing that the guy at the emissions station can "fudge" is the visual part (i.e. - missing precats , etc.) . Any actual DATA taken by the computer is INSTANTLY sent to Harrisburg . So if you fail for bad levels (or a bad gas cap ) , or whatever , Harrisburg knows before YOU do .

And that's when another car accidently goes on the dyno for the test. The garage guy is half asleep b/c he hasn't had his morning coffee yet.
