I was at the same juncture about two months ago. I didn't do it, cuz my SVT is the shiznit, and I decided that I didn't want a large payment. You on the other hand are different as you have a 96'. If you can afford the payments I'd go for it.

If you haven't had the 99M03 recall done and it's beyond 100,000 miles, I'd suggest getting rid of it BEFORE it starts developing all sorts of electrical problems.

My '96 is at Sheehy Ford right now getting the 99M03 recall done (well it will be when the replacement harness kit gets in).

I think I'm going to drive that '96 around for a couple more years, then I'll replace it with an '06 Futura (my sister works at a Ford dealer so I can get the D-plan on it, which should save a few thousand).

I won't trade the '96 in, that's a good way to get screwed by the dealer, especially when buying a car under D-plan. Plus my mom wants it to replace her '97 Escort. Nothing wrong with the '97 Escort, the Contour is just a nicer car, even if it's a year older.

I would buy a new car but keep the 96 as a daily until the problems become too much. I regret selling my old car when I bought my tour. I should have kept it to keep the miles off the tour. Which I'm doing now with my Pick-up!

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
