I sure as heck wouldn't tell anyone how to spend their money. But don't 'dis' the opinions of the 'elder set' (gee, is 37 the elder set?) just because they don't agree.

I'm just more performance oriented than looks oriented. So I gotta laugh at the grapefruit cannons and 20"+ 30# wheels.

But that is just my opinion. I agree with Antonio, until I make that payment, I can't tell you want to drive.

But I can still laugh at some of the stuff I see laugh

Wings are nothing new, the 69 charger Daytona and 70 Superbird had the biggest freakin wings I've seen on anything, stock or aftermarket. There will always be people doing stupid show stuff to their cars, I mean, look at those God-awful art cars. Just ignore it and get on with life, someone wants to put a shopping cart on the trunk and call it a wing fine, no skin off my nose. I think we all need to just relax a bit more.

After i first read Evolution's post i was somewhat disgusted. Now heres a guy who says he would rather eat a bullet then see what the next trend will be. To me that is a little ignorant, maybe he doesnt know that if he eats a bullit he will die. Then I realized after reading his sig that this guy has a corvette. Now of course he is going to think that all of these trends are silly. Hes not in high school like me. He doesnt drive around 4 thousand dollar Hondas. I mean if your a car guy in high school you take what you can get. I mean im sure some things are silly or outrageous. But if you enjoy cars and you only have a part time job in high school, and you wanna modify your cars then you are gonna start with the sound and the aesthetic mods because it is much more affordable then say adding a turbo or a supercharger. If you take pride in your car you are gonna do what you can to make it look its best. What you hold dear to autostyling is nice and all but if you express an opinion you cant get mad when someone calls you ignorant for not knowing or understanding the full situation that "us" the younger generation is in.

Wow...Well said, young pup...I'm quite past high school age, but I'm not rolling in dough...While my opinion is that aesthetic mods should be done to "smooth out" the appearance of a car, or at least have some practical function, I do agree that on a limited budget, there is only so much you can do...And for a young kid to either save $2000 for a go-go juice system or spend it in $20-50 increments on stuff to keep up with the "Jones'" civics,(i.e. big old sheets of aluminum siding on bolted onto the trunk, Maxwell House brand mufflers) I will bet on the latter 99% of the time.

Props to Ticontour.

To me that is a little ignorant,
Dumb, maybe, ignorant? Not a chance, it demonstrates zero lack of knowledge or education; what it does demonstrate is either some seriously whacked priorities, or hyperbole, but definately not ignorance.

And fwiw, just because it is inexpensive does not mean it will look good at all. I have been seriously broke, and into modding cars, and I have never been interested in (what I deem to be) tacky looking add-ons that do zero for performance despite an appearance to the contrary, so don't give me the "you don't understand the plight of the young, poor car enthusiast"
As far as what you choose to modify your car with, that is your choice, and neither I, nor anyone else has control over what you choose to do to your car (within legal limits, and of course parental for the younger ones) so it is completely up to you, and you must face the consequences of your choices, even on car mods, whether they be compliments, criticism, trophies, ridicule, broken parts, whatever.
You can do whatever you want, but people (Evolution in this case) can offer whatever opinion they want also, especially if they are offered up in a public forum. It goes with the territory. I am so sick of people getting all bent out of shape when someone's opinion/taste differs from thier own, keep it civil or I will shut you all down.

Antonio, hey man, you can email me, PM me, catch me on AIM, call me at home, work or on my cell, I'm not a hard man to reach laugh (you can even send me an old-style letter from way back in the sixties, but I'll nead to find my reading glasses wink )

Rara with all due respect, and i do respect you. I have learned alot from you. I do not think anything about my post was uncivil as you claim and I am really not trying to get rowdy or anything. I'm just adding a younger persons opinion to contrast to Evolution's. Im really not attacking anyone and if anyone felt that way, i am truly sorry. Hmm about the whole use of the word ignorance in my post, I could be wrong, but in the instance of wanting to kill one's self over car trends, im pretty sure that ignorant and dumb are synonyms in this case.

my bad, stupid was the word I should have used, not dumb. (yes, there is a difference) because dumb and ignorant are pretty much synonyms.
and Ti, I didn't mean to imply you were being uncivil, just antonio's original post, and the ensuing madness was still bugging me. People are just way too thin-skinned these days (regardless of its color laugh )
