All I can think of is that take off the rear wheels and try to move the little handle where the ebrake cable attaches manually with a hammer or a big screw driver
This would fix the problem but i am not sure if it would be ok to do it

climb under and pry the thing the ebrake cable attaches to.
it can be done without taking the wheel off if you lay down.
i just did it on friday cause mine were frozen, and im not gonna use my ebrake in the winter

Hey I had this same problem. Ford has a bulletin on this problem with contours. There is a kit that u buy that gives u all the necessary parts to fix your problem. I was working for ford at the time so it didn't cost me much to fix. Hopefully this helps u out!

The updated rear calipers have big honker helper springs that serve to ensure the e-brake disengages. The springs can be added as a retrofit. Mine froze last week - temp was around zero for as couple of days. Works fine now that it's up(?) in the 20's. Gonna get cold again by Wednesday and it'll probably freeze up again. Is it Spring yet?

mine has been doing it too but when the car warms up (idling about 25 minutes) it seems to be ok. good thing for my mtx remote start.
so this kit is just a spring replacement? sounds fairly easy

I have the old style mechanism and cables...I just lubed them up liberally with spray white lithium grease, and sealed them with baggies and duct tape. Yes, ghetto, but effective, and nobody can see it. I did it a winter or two ago and I haven't suffered any frozen e-brake problems.

This kit must be the same one that's discussed on the other current brake secion thread about rear caliper overhauls.

Ford has a nation wide program called Oasis. On this program common problems are mentioned and told how to be fixed.
