3 words for ya...

Junkyard

Freinds

Darn shame some of these cars seem to be hexed or sup'm. So far mine has had only a few minor things, relay, plug wires, & such.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Yeah, mine leaked power steering fluid from around the pulley a little. I would just add more. Eventually, it stopped leaking, but I still have a fluid coating down the side of my engine. I was just thinking today how much I really enjoy my car. I drive the piss out of it. 99k miles in almost 4 years. I haven't even changed the plug wires. I did change the plugs at about 75k. I also recently got a check engine light about "bank 2 catalyst system not up to threshold". Cleaned the O2 sensor, good as new. I just need to run F/I cleaner through it now. I have never done that either. This has probably been the car I've taken care of the least. Sure I got the dash warp and various sqeaks, but what do you expect? I only paid 17k for it brand new.

yes. my tour is on my [censored] list also. it was just about perfect for a year. only problem was the fuel pump. then a few months ago the tranny mount broke. then the tranny itself died (possibly from the tranny mount?). then just recently the parking break doesn't work at all. Then today, cold as balls out and the heat only blows air when it's set on the highest setting (fan speed, not heat level). oh and along with the squeeky suspension, rattles, and a few other minor issues. i'm not lovin it as much. don't get me wrong, it still brings me smiles on a daily basis. but it's also very frustrating....and now i think my fuel pump is going bad again. same symptoms, low fuel + high rpms (5k+) = falls flat on it's face....oh well.

It has been said that the Mexican-made Contours were more reliable than the KC-made Contours. Haven't had too many problems with mine (after the first six months which were warranty-covered anyway, due to it sitting unused a while before we got it), and with the exception of today's sub-zero temperatures it still runs like a charm.

I forgot about that. I'm on my third one now. They only seem to last about 40k. And a correction, sticker price was $17.5k, I only paid $15K.

How timely! My pump just went out this past Saturday while I was at (now get this) the cemetery!!! Damn car just turned 31K miles.
While talking to my dealers Service Advisor I asked him to also check the tie rods as the passenger side was starting to go. On Monday, he called me back to say the car was ready and they checked and replaced BOTH side tie rod ends for me. Pretty nice as I have the extended warranty. FWIW, my dealer is McCarthy Ford in Alsip. Real nice guys!
What bothers me is that I have had tie rods ends replaced on a 89 Crown Vic, 94 T-Bird, 98 ZX2 and now my Tour. Do I see a problem here?????
