General question for all you that know about "audio stuff", (as you can tell...I'm not one of you)!
When they say an amp is "bridgable", what does that mean? What does it do for you?
Thanks ahead of time!

Bridgeable means that an amp has versatility. Lets say that you car has 4 door speakers and nothing else. Then you will need a 4 channel amp. Lets say that you then put 2 subwoofers into the back of the car. You will then need either a 2 channel amp, or a 4 channel amp that can be bridged down to two channels. (or other examples) If an amp is 100 watts by 4 channels, and it is bridged to two channels, you are in effect doubling the power, but losing half as many channels (200 watts by 2 channels). This is a rough estimate, as it does not exactly alwats double the power. This was a terrible explanation, but hopefully you get something out of it.

in short, you can turn any number of channels of power into a smaller number of channels with more power per channel without damaging the amp.

the relationship doesn't always have to be 4-to-2. it could also be 2-to-1 or 4-to-1 depending on the features of the amp. and like jerseycat said, in this case if you have an amp rated at 100 watts per channel, and you bridge all four channels into 1, you'll have 400 watts total to feed 1 speaker.
http://www.crutchfield.com has more info and FAQ's on common audio terminology.

hope this helps!
