Hi :

Have a cel of 1131. Car runs, although not really super strong. It has 158,000 miles. It's not sluggish or stalling, just not real zippy. It's a ztec with an automatic.

Put fuel system cleaner in the gas tank. Hoping that this gets rid of my cel light.

ideas ?

Thanks,

jim

tune up?
Check your manual for recommendations for that mileage. At that high I'm sure there are things it says to do which may help alot.

I'm not sure on the CEL, but cleaning the TB & stuff like that can do wonders for pep.

Good luck!

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1.

Assuming the O2 is good, clean the MAF element and check for vacuum leaks - start with the PCV valve hose (under the exhaust manifold).

With a P1131, you cannot assume that the O2 sensor is good.

Replace the sensor as it is being indicated as weak and is not switching.

1131 went away after a few days. I put "Berrimen's Fuel Injector Cleaner" in the tank & drove. After a 1/2 tank, the cel went away on it's own.

Thanks for the help. I was worrying about having to replace expensive parts.

I think that I'll put new plugs in it. I'm guessing that platnium autolites are the best for the Ztec ? Anyone tried Splitfire in this motor ?

Thanks,

jim

Don't do it!!

Ask in the Ztec maintenance forum which are best to use. You might even find some great info/debates using the search feature. If search us up & running, search for "Ztec best plugs" with an AND as the operator.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
