Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General Troubleshooting 2100$$ for a tranny??

So, I was taking a exit onto a highway and when I was coming out of the corner I was in 2nd gear I go up to about 5k rpm and pop it into 3rd but nothing happens. I get the car towed to a SVT certified dealer and they tell me that a part went loose in the transmission and punctured a hole in it. They're not gonna rebuild it but install a new one. Does it usually cost this much for a freakin' tranny? My wife and I are fed up with this piece of crap! I replaced the engine about 15k miles ago and that cost 6k. So far with all the money put in to fix this car I could of paid the car off in cash! I really regret getting this car. Someone tell me something good about this car before I drive it off a bridge or vandalize it myself.

FORD's management made some serious cost cutting mistakes that have come to haunt them........Do I have a Contour, yes....do I like my Contour....yes....I do my own repairs.....will I buy another Ford.....quite simply no.

Make sure they are right! Either have them show you the damage or get a second opinion. Dealer once quoted me a new tranny for about the same price. Ended up being plug wires believe it or not. John
