i just got my 96 'tour and had to replace the headlight. so i went to autozone and got a new bulb, took out the old one, and couldn't get the new one in. when the guy from autozone couldn't figure it out, i knew i had a problem. so i went to the Ford dealership down the road. even the guy there said he had never seen one like that before. i know that everything on my car is stock, b/c the lady that owned it b4 me was a single parent, and just needed something to get her around. the car also came off lease, so i'm sure she didn't do anything to it. anyone know who or what would be able to help??

Was the vehicle ever in an accident? You may have an aftermarket lens assembly rather than a factory Ford one.

Are there any numbers on the old bulb? Can you post a picture of it?

Does the old bulb match the new one?

Are you sure you bought a 9006 for the low beam and not a 9005?

sorry i havn't posted...family emergency and i havn't gotten on my computer in more than a week. the problem was the housing. the car was made later in the year, and they changed the way the headlights are mounted(or so i'm told by Ford). i got a new housing and put it in. easy swap from the old one, just some tabs to pull out. only problem now is, i have to change the other one b/c now one is brighter than the other!
