Hi Guys,
I have a 1996 Mercury Mystique with a four cylinder engine. I currently have 4 ugly 14" factory steel rims with Mercury's plain, ugly wheel covers and 195/70/14 tires on them. I have the chance of picking up a set of SVT rims from a 98/99 Contour. 2 of the rims have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 205/55zR16's that would have to be replaced, and the other 2 of the rims have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 225/55zR16's that are brand new. My Questions are:

1. Will these rims work on my Mystique?
2. Are these good quality tires?
3. If I change the 2 205's, should I stay with 205's or go with 215's?
4. Does anyone know the max. tire width for the Mystique's and will 205's/215's be safe?
5. Is $300 Canadian a good deal for these rims and tires?

i just got a set of goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3 and do they hold the road!!!! the only problem is that they are not worth a [censored] in the snow!!!!! i have a 2000 se sport and i just went to 205/55/zr16 from 205/60/15. my front tires rubbed a little at first but when i shoved a piece of plastic behind another piece of plastic they did just fine.

The 205X55 are pretty close to a dead nuts (with in an RCH) replacement for the 195X70's. The 225X55's are to tall and would wreak havoc with your speedo. Stick with the 205's

Would the 225's be okay on the rear? The 225's I got are practically brand new. I figure the guy I got them from had them there because all the wear seems to be on the 205's.

Yeah they would work but they'd give some pretty good positive rake.

Thats a good deal if the rims and atleast (2) of the tires are in good shape. They WILL fit your car w/o any problems and I'd go with P215/50/16's when its time to replace them all Lets see some pics when you get them on.
