Heads up, complete NOOB here when it comes to the tour.
Just picked up a 96 GL sport 2.0 ATX that needs some exhaust work. I think the cat has been replaced with straight pipe, thus the reason for my post. Where should the cat be located on these cars? Should be before the flex or after? ATM there is a muffler like device (thinking resonator)located around the rear seat area and a muffler at the end of the exhaust. Pics would be great if anyone has them. I need to have a CAT installed on this to pass emmisions, I'm sure the local muffler shop would know where it should go but don't want to take the chance.
Thanks

The catalytic converter is considered by Ford to be the section from the exhaust manifold to the front muffler. It includes the flex joint. PM me with your email address I'll try sending you a scan of the factory manual.

Cat is located in front of the engine, right off the exhaust manifold.
