Hi all

I have a 1997 Zetec Contour and have been having misfiring problems. I've replaced the spark plugs and wires, didn't help and have now purchased a replacement KEM ignition coilpack.

The problem is that I am not sure how to connect up the spark plug wires in order to get the correct timing.

The new coilpack came with instructions that say 4 cylinder application EARLY and 4 cylinder application LATE with cylinder 2 and 3 swapped, which one should I choose LATE or EARLY??

If I play around with it and hook it up wrong could I mess something up?

Thank you!

Tom

Should connect about the same as orginial coil. Just compare. It shouldn't mess anything up, MAYBE fry a plug, and the car possibly won't start.

You would be considered early....the later Zetecs (w/VCT) are considered late.

I will hook it up as specified in the early diagram. And let you know how it goes.

Cylinders 1 and 4 are already swapped compared to the original Motorcraft part (early and late) so I know hooking it up in the same way as the original part is not going to work.

Thanks guys!

Also it is listed in some catalogs as a coil pack for a 8 cylinder?

As it's used on some Ford V8s (but two of them),, wow we all know the same crap.
