The flex pipe on my car is broken. The welds broke on the one end. So I took it to speedy to have it replaced, cut old one out and weld new one in. Not going to happen! When we got the car up on the hoist and looked at it the guy said he can't just cut the flex out because of slight bends right before and after. So he said that I will have to replace everything before the flex including my cat. To me this doesn't make sense. I shouldn't have to replace my cat everytime my flex pipe breaks. so first question is has anyone had this problem? second do i need the flex pipe there I mean cars didn't even used to have them so is putting just a piece of pipe there a bad idea? oh and just to vent a little exhaust shops at least around here suck. There motto should be (If it doesn't come in a box and bolt right on we ain't touching it) these places should get rid of all there cutters and benders cause they obviously don't need them.Anyways thanks for any help and info

Keep the flex pipe. I didn't have one for a while, and I kept on breaking bolts on the flanges.
