Thanks in advance for taking a look at this.

This had happened to me twice and I was wondering if any of the local guys could help out.

Heres the prob. Under full acceleration once i pass 3900 in third gear my secondaries cut out and continue to not work. The first time this happened I didnt know what to do and the next time i got in the car it was fine, the second time I drove on it for a while and then just turned the ignition off and and and they worked. Now, Packey Webb, took it in the first time because the next day it wouldnt start, but no codes came up in their computer of course. So now I am wondering if this happens to anyone else and/or hot to remedy it.

Also for you stereo people, how do you stop the rattles, my front defroster cover is coming loose, among other things.

Any help would be greatly ppreciated.

Thanks Chris

you need to replace the IMRC control box that is under the duratec cover it's about 85 bucks and very easy to replace

the no start could be from a bad IAC valve thats on the upper intake manfold in the back little silver cylinder, anyother 50 bucks or so for the part also very easy to fix, neither item going bad will throw a code.

Is there anyway to test the IMRC control box? I may have just started to have the same problem. But It's only on the ist to 2nd shift on an auto. I can floor it and the engine just donesn't rev up enough to shift.

As for the defogger vent. The dash is warping. I have the same issue. There is a repair kit for about $70. But everyone says that is will come apart again after a while. There is a new vent plate that is rivoted in place that also holds the dash in place. I'm looking into that now. I'll let you know.

intermittent failure of the imrc box is common due to heat , mine went our once at 20k and again at 50k, i drove my car VERY hard though even on the hottest days if you want to test it open the hood runn the car and look under the throttle body as you rev the engine up real good past 4k if the linkage for the secondaries opens EVERY time your probly ok but if it doesnt as it did on mine then you need to replace it ,

also maybe pull the duratec cover off that covers the box it is know to hold heat and maybe cause premature failure that box is after all just a circuit board and eletric motor..
