My (stock) driver side speaker sounds like it has a short in it, most of the time it doesn't work, but I'll go over a bump and it'll blast on for a second. I really didn't care, the passenger side gives me enough sound, but my mom got me a Pioneer DEH-1500 CD player and Lighting Audio 6x9 three way speakers for Christmas. (talk about yellow- sheesh). I'm thinking about returning the speakers and just installing the CD player, but would that be too much powerfor the stock speakers? I know nothing about any of this. I don't care about being able to hear my Bass a mile away or anything like that, I just want something to work. What are my options here? thanks.

if i remember, stock speakers are 20watts rms.... the most power ive seen from an aftermarket deck is 23watts rms (SONY!), so you should be fine.... some decks push out 25, and one even does 30 (with extra power wiring), but im sure your deck is between 18-23

your stock speakers will handle the new hu power fine. keep the settings moderate. if the driver occasionally works i'd recheck the wiring. i think the stock r more like 12-15 watts rms

How bout you just exchange the 6x9's for some 6x8's?
