Anyone happen to know the rod length and size and thickness? Also the size of diameter where the pin goes through and the diameter where the crank goes? Just curious...

I can give you the basic measurements for the duratec rods but not for the zetec.

Overall length (tip-tip)= 19.4 cm
That measurement may not help much so I'll give you center of the pin bore to center of the rod bore:
center-center length = 14 cm (approximately)
Pin bore = 21 mm
Rod bore = 53 mm (without bearing inserted)
Rod bore w/bearing = 50 mm

All measurements done with a ruler and are only accureate to within 1 mm so don't hold me to these exactly!!!!

Tom

**Edit**

I forgot, the rod is an 'I-beam' style and at its thinnest point parallel to the long section of the 'I' it is ~18 mm.
Parallel to the two short cross sections of the 'I' it is 15 mm thick.

Thanks again Tom.

It seems that there are only a hand full of people on here who are both willing to share and knowledgeable on subject. All I am trying to do is see if there is another car, or motor that is more mass produced that has parts that we/I could use in place of things that could/might lower the price of some items. I was hoping that some of the v8 taurus motors might pan out to make us some more parts. But apparently SHO parts aren't that mass produced either. Ugh... thus the search continues.

Seeing how 90% of all posts I have seen on here in 3 years time are reposts, or repeat questions that are (for the most part) already common knowledge, except to the one person who is actually asking.. and also taking in to account that there are a few resident experts like Tom...

I would think that if there were another engine that would be swappable for parts, etc, it would either be common knowledge, too, or in a FAQ somewhere on here..

But its not..

Gotya, it's just that some people like me are more stubborn and don't give up or in easily. If it means I have to search for several months to find it, so be it. There has got to be some import car or something out there, that has internals we can use. And at a decent price. I would like to think. Who knows it could all be a huge waste of time. But sometimes you don't know till you try.

If you find some cheap forged rods or pistons, let me know!
