Hey All,

I just installed a Rockford Fosgate RFX-8340. And bypassed the factory amp with a kit I got from a local shop. The sounds is just horrible. The factory radio sounded 3,000% better.

The bypass wire went from the deck wiring for the speakers to the amp wiring for the speakers. They said that I didn't have to do anything with the gray wire - they said it was the input for the amp, is this correct?

Any Help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Provided your amp is correctly bypassed, you may have your speakers wired out of phase (plus & minus reversed).

Thanks for suggestion, but nope speakers wires are matched up. Solid color with solid color. Then black trace with black trace.

I really think it has something to do with the amp bypass not sure if it is correct.

Someone that has done this before, when the glovebox is folded completely down, the wire on the right side of the amp the gray wire did you do anything with it?

Is the bypass wired through the wire on the left side?

If you've correctly bypassed the amp, there shouldn't be anything plugged into it at all. Did you use one of these?

No, I used something like this Click but cut off one end and hardwired into speaker wires from head unit.

The one you listed looks like a plug to eliminate the factory amp when utilizing the factory radio?

The bypass cable eliminates the factory amp when using an aftermarket head unit. Hence, you are bypassing the factory amp.

If you have correctly bypassed the amp, you should be able to take it out of the car as nothing should be plugged into it.

That's what I used---did you disconnect the big connector from the right side of the amp and plug it into that harness you bought? If so then the amp should be bypassed.

If you disconnected the small connector from the left side of the amp, then you didn't bypass the amp.

Big Connector. But is still sounds bad. Little connector is still plugged into amp, but nothing is plugged in other side.

do u have the "bypass" harness plugged into the amp? or the harness that detaches from the amp. basically uplug the stock speaker harness from the stock amp. plug the new harness into this stock harness then run all the new extra speaker wire to the new hu and match up the connections. if u have the wrong harness maybe its mismatching the connections from harness to harness even though u connected the hard wires correctly on the hu side. once done, u can technically remove the stock amp. if not you've still got something plugged into it
