Has anyone attempted to convert the 1998 SVT passenger seat to power? I thought the Probe power seats look a lot like the Contour SVT seats, and there are Probe seats for sale at the junkyard all the time.
Is the power there?
Has anyone tried this?
Your thoughts on converting the non-power seat to power.

Off the subject, this is a great website, I am new + just bought my SVT last month and love it.

thanks,

Congrats on the new purchase.

I have thought about this many times.

My idea however was to take a spare drivers seat and switch all the power componets to a passenger seat and move the switches to the opposite side and viola.

Probably a lot more work - haven't really looked into it. But seems to work in theory.

Let us know.
Joe

Let me know if you find anything out. I was going to buy some power and heated seats from a BMW or something and have them recovered to match my interior.

I think that it might be possible. I think you would probably have to get the undercarriage of the seat from a right hand drive Mondeo. The wiring should be straight forward, and just paint the plastic cover with Fords interior paint.

I'm still working on this but, one issue is that the power seat on the driver's side is hooked up to a 30 A fuse. There are no spares big enough for the passenger. Also I saw a lincoln Mark 8 passenger seat for sale and it may work as a donor track if not I may need to use the regular SVT driver's seat. 94-98 Mustangs or taurus may also be a candidate for the donor track and electrical.

Anybody else feel like working on this project? I am the total bafoon when it comes to electrical.
