Those of you with amps in your car, how and where are you mounting them? I thought of maybe mounting the amp to the sub box but the vibration might damage the electronics. That space behind the wheel well might work well, but where do you tap the screws? Under the front passenger seat is another option, or in the former location of the premium sound amp.

I just made a shelf for my amps and cap out of 5/8" plywood. After that I carpeted it with stuff from trak auto (10 bucks for twice as much as I needed) and screwed everything together. Fits great, 'cuz I cut it a little big, it just wedged in there and won't go anywhere unless I yank it strait up (which rules because I didn't want to drill to secure anything). The sub box was thrown on in 5 seconds with angle brackets and drywall screws, and dosen't go anywhere when I'm cornering.

louisw,
I mounted my a/d/s/ P840.2 underneath the rear package shelf. This is a fairly large chassis amplifier, width X length, but it has a short height (chassis & heat sinks).
The package shelf was an ideal location for me as I did not want to impede on any luggage space.
The amp is mounted to a carpeted piece of MDF board which is then suspended approximately two inches from the package shelf by metal brackets.
When you open the deck lid you can't even see the amp unless you kneel down & look up as the trunk opening is actually lower than the amp.
My Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 subwoofer is mounted in a Q Logic box which sits on the trunk floor directly underneath the amp on the passenger side (offsets the driver's weight). I had the cables to the sub extended & quick disconnects installed in case I had to haul something oversized & needed to remove the sub & box.
Hope these ideas help.

I had my amp put on the top of the box - no problems so far. I put it there as that is wasted space anyhow. I can fit a jogging stroller into my trunk still even with a 12" sub. I can't believe anything would hurt the electronics - that's just not realistic.

The rear deck gets pretty hot I've noticed, so I would not put it there. My amp gets hot (when not being used) on sunny days from heat from the deck. My amp is 6-12" below the deck, but the infrared or plain old heat gets to the amp. It seems fine though, and friends have since told me they'd had amps mounted below the deck just fine.

i don't have fold down seats in the back, so i mounted the amp on a piece of carpeted 3/4 " particle board and screwed that into the support braces behind the rear seats. the sub box is placed as far to the rear of the car as possible, firing upward. i've tried the box in other locations, and the sound is the best towards the when it's placed there. here's a snapshot. sorrys it's so dark.
