I wonder what the current re-sell value is on one. I checked kbb and edmunds and they don't seem to do a good job at appraising old cars.

I guess a good guess would be around $2k-5k depending on what kind of shape they are in. I've seen a few in my area for around $3500. I definitely wouldn't pay more than $3-4k depending even if they are in mint shape. Go for it, the 2.3 turbo fords are considered one of the best cars to get a lot of HP cheap.

Makes me wish I paid more attention to cars back in the day. There were all these cool cars that just slipped under the radar and are all but forgetten now.

It's probably worth whatever the person is selling it for.

86 is the most sought after year (only one with composite headlights and best looking body style ) I briefly looked into getting one myself many years ago actually.

Niche cars like these can not simply be measured by a value in a book.

Although they are ok in a straight line, like a contour, their real beauty comes in the corners. Don't get tied up in 1/4 mi.times, but there are a couple in the 10's and one in the 9's. Mods are insanely cheap also!

I just sold my SVO no more than a year ago, for 11,200...a big number for that car. I absolutely loved the car and regret selling it. INSANE fast!!! Mods are soooo cheap for that car too. KONI adjustables all around...STOCK, huge sway bars, huge 4 wheel dics all around, short shift T-5 stock. Intercooled, T3 turbo. Just a great car. A few cheap mods and you can toy w/ EVO's and STI's

Track times are around a 15 flat. I had a pretty darn clean 86 SVO that was heavily modded. The car ran great (when it ran). These turbo Fords have a tendency to be alot of trouble. Yes they are rare, but be prepared to search for parts if you break or wreck it. They are RARE! You can get on www.turboford.org and do some research. But like I said they are kinda bad in the reliabilty area. It's awesome that they had the 5 lug, 4-wheel discs, and flush-mount headlights before any other Mustang. (5.0 that is)
