I had my car corner weighed today. Here's the numbers for those interested. The numbers in ()'s are with me in the car (I currently weigh 217). Also, the car had a little over 1/4 tank. Not much done to reduce weight... the spare + jack was in... I removed my hood liner... removed the fuse box brace (mounted the fuse box under the battery).

Total weight: 2987 (3204)

(FL=front left, RR=rear right, etc...)
FL: 956 (1043) FR: 968 (997)
RL: 524 (598) RR: 538 (568)

Cross...
FL\RR: 1494 (1611)
FR/RL: 1492 (1595)

64.4 / 35.6 front/rear weight distribution (w/o me)
63.7 / 36.3 with me.

For one... I was expecting the car to be around 3100ish with out me. 2987 kinda surprised me . The front/rear weight distribution kinda sucks... but the cross weight is almost exact (my weight screws it up... need to loose some).

That weight sans driver seems low! That's great. I can't wait to do mine.
That's some great info, thanks!!!

Nice...good info. Hey, do you have a sunroof? Just want to know since that is one option that could be different.

That F/R isn't bad for FWD. I don't think you'd want 50/50 on an FWD car. RWD's have to shoot for that, or they won't get any traction at the drive wheels.

Also, your cross-weights make me think that relocating the battery to the trunk might not be the best idea, or at least that it might be unnecessary.

Gee, maybe those Ford engineers actually knew what they were doing?

Qbert: i do have a sunroof. I've been currious if replacing the glass with polycarbonite or lexan might help with the top heaviness.

It's interesting how the viewpoints on relocating the battery between the Contour forums.. and the Cougar forums differ. The Cougar people say everyone should relocate the battery. The Contour people say not to, but replace it with a lighter battery. I'm not sure the added weight of cable would make relocating the battery that beneficial. Though... if I were to put the battery in the rear-right side of the car, that weight would still be on the same cross weight, but would be in the rear-right (currently least weight) instead of the front-left (currently most weight).

Probably what I'd gain most benefit from would be to loose about 20lbs

Our AZ Solo II region owns a nice scale kit... and we have an occational weigh day. We used to do them at the events, but the numbers were found to be off. So, they are now done in one of the guys garage... rather, a guest home converted to an auto garage.. complete with hydro lift . This guy is pretty into it, and he uses a digital leveler before weighing anyone.

I'm not sure when the next one will be... but it only costs $5 (which goes back to the club). Depending on how far away you are... you might want to check www.azsolo2.com for future times.

Also, I forgot to mention that I do not have a spoiler.. which might make my weights differ slightly from others.

Found the corner weight sheet for my previous car (2000 Cougar v6+sport) incase anyone was currious on the weight differences.

This car had no weight changing mods, no convenience package, no sun roof, had the spare+jack, and probably about 1/4 tank. They only did the corner weighing with me in the car, but they did a total weight w/o me.

Total weight: 3163 (2953 w/o me)

FL: 1029, FR: 1000
RL: 579, RR: 555

Cross...
FL\RR: 1585
FR/RL: 1580

64.1 / 35.9 front/rear weight distribution

*note: the corners might be off a slight ammount as these weights were done in a parking lot and may not have been precisely level.
