The Metra 5514, which includes the bypass harnes (Metra 70-5513) did NOT fit my 99 Contour. One end fits, but the car's other plug leaving the amp is a small square plug - not rectangular.

Scosche FDK-15 looks like it would work as it has the wide plug and the small square plug, but they did not have it in stock. The installer had some plug that was close enough that he modified it and replaced one plug of the Metra 5513 with it. He cut the 5513 harness - not my wires.

BTW, the Scosche FDK-8 that has been mentioned on here looks to be the same as the Metra 70-5514 (a complete kit), but uses the same type of plug for the bypass as the Metra (the wrong one for my car).

Lastly, I'm not sure my Sony 7050 sounds better than the factory amp (they did not bypass the amp as I had asked, so yesterday I took it back - so I've heard both ways). It is louder now, but I think the factory amp was a less distorted. Now I'd love to be able to fit a small aftermarket 4 channel amp into the same location as the factory amp, but that's very unrealistic.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're trying to do, but if you bought the bypass harness, I would assume you're trying to bypass the factory amp and power the speakers directly from your Sony deck. Is this correct?
If so, you don't need to connect anything to that small square plug. That connection supplies the low level output from the factory deck to the amplifier. The scary part is, it also supplies power to the amplifier; notice how small those wires are? The larger rectangular connector is for your speaker connections.

I do not think I have two rectangular connectors. The Scosche FDK-15 matches what I have.

What do you mean "low level output" from the factory head unit? I thought the factory amp has speaker level inputs???

Whatever they did, it does work.
