I removed the to connections from the factory amp. One fits perfectly into the bypass harness the speaker connection is not even the same connection as the one on the harness. Am I missing something here. Thanks

Disregard the below post,I was going by what the stereo guy at Best Buy told me,well after ripping my dash apart HE WAS WRONG!So,so was I!
The package the bypass harness came in I noticed said "For Ford Premium Stereo",Well as far as I know I,nor any other Contour SVT,has a premium stereo in it.
So I guess well be taking our harness' back to get the right one(again)!
-----DISREGARD MESSAGE BEYOND THIS LINE------
One end of the bypass harness goes to the big plug on the AMP,the other end of the bypass harness goes to the plug coming off of the HEAD UNIT(stereo).Got it? hope this helped ya,i crossed the same path, when i got mine today, almost took it back.

Funny - I was about to post about my recent installation. Metra by pass harness DO NOT FIT my 1999 contour. The SCSOSCHE FDK 15 looks like it would fit. note that Scosche FDK-8 looks to be the same as Metra 70-5514 (it will not fit either).

My car has one plug that match Metra's bypass plug, but the other end is SMALL and SQUARE, NOT a rectangle like the other side of the amp!

the installer had a plug that he somehow modifed and got it to fit (I think he cut the bypass harness and replaced one plug - he did not cut my car's wires). No, I do not know what harness he used, but the Scosche FDK-15 looked good, but they did not have them in stock.
