I drive a '99 CSVT produced in August of 99 (so I think, anyway). I referenced TSB 97-22-3 on the moosing issue (as my car has fallen victim to it) and found that the updated hose is the same as what I already have. Moosing is becoming a frequent occasion (ie once per 5-10 min stop & go drive), especially with the temperature dropping. It's running the stock SVT air intake. Is this a bad IAC valve issue? Should I perform the throttle hang fix? Is it best to deal with this by performing the notorious 'baseball bat' fix?

From what I've read, people have had varied results doing the "fix". I put a new IAC on mine, this is the only true "fix" because if the IAC was operating properly you wouldn't have a moosing noise.

Colder weather definitely brings this gremlin out, especially if you are running an open element filter.

Another way to "kill the moose" is to order the BAT intake pipe if you aren't fond of doing the throttle hang fix. Killed my problem with it.

I know the feeling !!! I have the EXACT same problem with my 2000 CSVT I just bought. I purchased a new IAC from O'Reilly's today and plan to install tomorrow($48.00). I'll let you know if the Moose in rut are still try to hump my car when I'm done. What was really embarrassing was late one night when it was cold out (and I had a few) and was on the way home. While at the stoplight, a state trooper is next to me. I am trying to act cool, and my car begins to emit a foghorn sound so loud that I sound like a freighter lost in the fog at sea! I thought the trooper was going to fall out of his patrol car he was laughing so hard.

Sometimes it helps to clean the IAC. Sometime it doesn't. It is worth a try.

What would I use to clean it out? I tried another fix. Someone recommended using a 3' piece of tube instead of the 6" piece running from the IAC to the accordian. So far so good, but I'd like to clean it out anyway. If I can go back to using the much smaller pipe, I'd like to.

I just finished up getting my moosing corrected. I've got a '00 SVT with a K&N filter in the stock housing. My moosing started a few weeks ago growing louder and occuring more often. I also had a coupel stalls. I have an extended warranty so I took it back to the dealer. They checked fuel pressure (?) and codes in the computer. Then they did a road test and did not hear the noise. I drove it with the service writer and didn't hear it either. I wondered if they'd done more then what they admitted to but figured if the noise was gone, OK by me. Within a day the moosing was back. I took it back to the dealer the nite before, then went up in the morning and started it up with the shop foreman present. It made the noise and he started feeling around under the hood squeezing hoses. He got the noise to stop and announced it was the IAC. They replaced it and it's gone.

It'd think chnaging the lenght of hoses may disguise the noise but to fix it it's the IAC.

Tony
