I do not work for them but they have been excellent to deal with, check out Insaneaudio.com for those speakers and they have them for 66.00..
What type of system do you have that's a 1000w that your looking at Pioneer speakers for? just a curious question..

Hey Contour guy, i would like to know that # for the kenwoods. i didn't know they made a 6X8. i knew they make a 5X7 but not a 6X8. Also is it 2 or 3 way?

OH - I'm stupid, I guess they are called Kenwood-578C 5x7/6x8 models, they are 3 way too. They are same size as the OEM, mucho mucho better at $79.95.

generally, i think speaker companies use 5x7 and 6x8 interchangably. so, if you buy 6x8 speakers, they are also 5x7 speakers. the only difference is where the holes are and how much they charge you for the "bigger size".

I was thinking of installing a set of Audiobahn AK682P 6x8 2-WAY plate speakers in the front doors. I was thinking the same set or the AK682 6x8 concentric swivel 2-way speaker. The AK682 goes 30-21kHz and the AK682P goes 50-21kHz. Right now I'm running only an alpine 35 x 4 CD deck. I am installing 2 MTX 10" SUBs in Q-Logic sealed boxes with a 280WATT Clarion Amp.
Anyway which speakers should I place in front and in back? I have never works with Plate speakers. I'm not running an Amp for the door speakers. A few of you have the brand and I have never listened to them myself. I know that by teh Specs they are better then anything else out there.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

IMO, you should treat plate speakers as though they are separates. they usually require a good amount of power and sound best (and are less likely to encounter damage) if powered from an external amp. they will (probably) sound better than coaxials, but if you are only running deck power, you might want to stick with the 6x8s unless you plan on upgrading the amp situation later.

hope this helps.
