I have a 99 Ford contour. Today I was driving it on the ice and snow and the ABS did not work. I also had a mechanic at the Ford garage tell me that the system is not functioning . The light is not on. They were going to charge 79.00 to diagnose it. I decided to look at the fuses myself but noticed in the book that only a garage should look at that particular fuse. Does anyone have any idea why or what may be the problem. Thanks

There should be no problem checking the fuses yourself. It looks like there is one under the hood next to the battery and one under the dash. If they are both good, maybe the ABS has a failure that won't make the light go on. Does it act like there is no ABS at all, or does it just not seem to work right?

they do not work at all. It also says that you should have a service tech pull that fuse.
