just buy a VW and be done with it.

But like the guy said, he doesn't like the VW suspension compared to the Focus' Besides, its pretty cool to have something different, especially if it can be made to go real fast, a BIG bonus IMO Congrats on the kit guys and good luck!

LOL-
for $4500 you can have 200 FWHP

Right - so why go VW?
My friend has a ZX3 that is all sorts of worked on (its a DANG good looking car!) and he for less than that is getting a 2.3L with a cossie head (when those come out) and a turbo - all entailed he should be in his new engine about $5K - and he will have comfortably more than 200 FWHP -
he is basically building a WRC clone for the street- he has the 18" crono evos and its white and lowered - hes also got his euro taillights on order and wrc rear bumper got here last week - now hes waiting on the euro front bumper and the cossie head to come out. then heas all set. - BTW a Borla with no cat on a focus sounds so dang good!!!!!

$4500 for the conversion is in addition to the cost of the car. no at all worth it, IMO. id much rather start with the car the engine was made for and modify the suspension to suit my needs than waste time on a focus that is basically worthless now because no one would pay what he put into it on the open market. would you pay $10k for a Focus that has been cut and slashed for a VW engine? i sure wouldn't.

What if you blew your SVT engine? Wouldn't this be a good option, espeically if you mod'd the engine so it put out more than the stock HP?
Is it possible?

I believe in American cars, I would NEVER pull a Ford engine out of a Ford, and throw some forign POS in my beauty. If the car has a ford logo on it, so shall the engine! Why your at it with removing that Ford engine and installing forign one in, why not buy a new car?

Should be the same.

Ummm, no,,, if that was so,, than all of us would have done 302 conversions... Foci is not the same as a contour... just same engine...

And why would you do that? $4500 + install and you have an amazing 200hp. For $4500 I'd have more than 200hp with the zetec and be plenty reliable (most likely more reliable than the VW, I know people with new jettas, etc. that are always getting work done), add the cost of install and I'd have even more power. Swapping a small engine out for just another small engine is STUPID. Especially when they both have good enough aftermarkets. I doubt many people are gonna do this conversion unless they've got a show car and just want to be different (and slower than any other focus with over $4k engine work done).

I think with that money, you could buy a SVT Duratec (used) pulled from a wrecked SVT, and bring it to life, and still have money left over.

It's not like I want to do it, but I would like to have options in case I have to decide (hopefully never). We had an Audi A4 1.8 before and that engine is rock solid. It carries an extraordinay rep and was voted one of the best engines to date. If I had to replace an engine, I would go after that over a 3L. Sorry but true.
