I did a quick search, and didn't find anything I tought was relevant, so here's my problem. From time to time, I will have trouble with my csvt not wanting to idle after sitting overnight in the cold. The car will start right up, but I must keep my foot on the gas or it will stall. After a few minutes, the engine will make a weird fog horn sound, and then will idle perfectly. This has happened three times in the past 6 weeks and it's always the same.

Thanks in advance,
Lee Alvarez

IAC (idle air control) valve. near firewall, next to coil pack. much posting about this if you search under IAC. I had a similar problem except for the noise, and was able to fix temporarily by smacking the top of the valve with a snowbrush. Part is about $50.00, and should be replaced. some people have tried to clean it, but that doesn't seem to last very long.

I am having similiar problems with my new 2000 CSVT. It is called moosing and apparently very common on the Contour V-6. Go to FAQ section under common problems:noises and it describes the fix.The new parts will run about $120.00.
