My Y2K tour has had a number of problems as of late. I took it in due to a throttle hang and the all too common "moosing"! I was told by the "SVT" trained mechanic that Ford realized the flaw in design and has recently redesigned it. Is this true and has anyone seen it before? Thanks for the help! My tour is having this supposed operation now and I was wondering if I would get the original design or this "new" one.

Not the throttle body, but the Idle Air Control valve.

There were several models of IAC. The moosing comes from a resonance that sets up in the IAC tube because the spring on the IAC plunger was well....wrong I guess. Some cars moosed and some didn't. I believe they used a stiffer spring later on.

i keep hearign abou tthe moosng what does it sound like? i guess mine doesnt do it.

The sound is like a very loud fog horn. It usually only occurs when the tour has been sitting and its cold out. I used to wonder what the sound was until it "happened"! And you WILL KNOW IT when it does!

I have a 98 SVT and mine has never moosed, I have heard it on other tours, it is loud! But I did the thrttole hang fix a long time ago... Maybe that has something to do with it. By the way the throttle hang fix in my opinion is totally worth it!

That would be an easy fix if I had not just had the whole throttle body replaced and it is still doing the fog horn roar! Does anyone have any other suggestions like replacing the stock air box with an after market intake? Or would that even fix the prob?

1)There is a TSB out on it.
2)There is a updated IAC & hose
3)Have you ever blown on top of a glass bottle? that low pitch sound is what everyone refers to moosing as.

So is this "moosing" sound heard mostly in the engine bay? I have symptoms that sound like this but it is coming from my gas cap. It sounds like blowing over an empty bottle in the cabin. Very annoying.
