When i take off slowly from in either 1st gear or reverse...I get a winding/grinding noise.....its very hard to explain the noise...I just put in a torsen Diff and a spec 3 clutch.....and its been nothing but bad for me...leaking somewhere...but i believe the axle seal...replaced it once already and its still leaking a little...but my main concern is that noise...thanks guys

Sounds like you maybe hearing gear rollover. It is common with LSD's. Let the clutch out at idle sitting still with the window down and see if you hear the same noise.

Also, is this going in a strait line or turning?


Just a Plain SE. AKA Big Country I maybe path914's B**** now, but wait until he needs his clutch done. We will see WHO is WHO's B**** then!

gear rollover is a chattering noise.

lsd's tend to "moan" i guess you could call it a whine as well. I remember my car had a whine from a throwout bearing that I assume was going bad. Only really noticed it when downshifting though.


1999 Silver Frost SVT #609 of 2760 Quaife, lightened SVT Flywheel, SPEC stage II clutch, removed resonator, k&n drop in - various other goodies too.

thegreatone has the right concept.....Im dropping it off at my work .....A guy i trust is looking at it...gonna drive it and check where in the hell my car is leaking from....I think its the axle seal which i replaced twice already but it can still be it and i hope it is ......Is it common for the intermedite(sp) shaft to go bad?? its leaking from that area....Im not sure if its the axle seal...I cant seem to find any other leaks though.....Trying to figure it out for about 3 weeks now....Sucks big time thanks for everyones help

Keep in mind that the Spec III is a heavy duty rece clutch. Mine feels like an On/Off switch more than a clutch. It you try to feather it too much it shutters and wehn the clutch is in it chatters a bit too. All these symptoms are quite normal for a Stage III clutch. Just takes some getting used to. I have a Quaife, but Keyser has a Torsen and has some interesting sounds too.

I understand the chattering part and for sure its not that...what kinds of noises do the torsen make?

If I recall correctly, it was a whirring type sound. He can qualify the statement if he pops his head up.
